BACKDOOR: THE EARLY YEARS

BACKDOOR began in 2015 as “The Original Backdoor Teadance“. A cosy Sunday afternoon LGBT dance event in Club Abe in the center of Amsterdam with space on the dance floor for 250 party people. The teadance was a fun crazy party where visitors drank vodka straight from a tea cup, and dined on cakes and chocolates.

We grew hard and fast and in 2018 the Original Backdoor Teadance became “BACKDOOR“. We moved to the ultra modern pop venue Melkweg, and the Sunday teadance gave way to all-night parties on Saturdays from 10pm – 6 am.

Nowadays BACKDOOR is one of the best gay parties amsterdam and it takes place 4 times per year. Each year during Amsterda Pride in the MAX hall with 1500 international party people from the entire LGBT+ spectrum. The rest of the year in the intimate OZ room (capacity 700). You can always expect the sexiest go-go dancers, wild performance art, drag queens, hedonistic fun, and always a mix of the best international DJ’s of the moment.

BACKDOOR is the new and much improved version of the well-known 'Original Backdoor Tea-Dance'. The granddaddy of today's BACKDOOR: it was once a Sunday evening dance-event with local dj's, chocolate, fresh fruit, and a teapot full of vodka! We've taken the best of the Tea-dance and changed Saturday nights forever.

BACKDOOR Amsterdam is a celebration of all things good in our community and in our nightlife. We wanted our party to generate an all-inclusive openminded LGBT+ atmosphere, where everybody feels equally welcome ....... where all sides of our community unite: the circuit pro's and the nerds, the queers, gym rats and the drag queens. Lesbian lovers and hipster toy-boys. Where normal is simply a back-up plan. They come together and get comfortable together. Our performers, and dancers give their very best. Every single time. The stage is yours when they take a break. Dance all night long to the hypnotic rhythms of our international deejays. BACKDOOR Amsterdam has something for everyone.

BACKDOOR Amsterdam is simply over-the-top productions in a beautiful city center venue with an amazingly creative team working together to produce high-quality events with the best International DJ’s that keep you on your feet until the early hours. Our visitors come from all over the world bringing their diverse cultural backgrounds to the dance floor in a common theme of love, acceptance and respect. It's is this international diversity on the dancefloor which allows for a fusion of cultures and discovery. We can truly say, some great international relations begin at BACKDOOR.
